Reasons We’re Excited to Have Another Baby Boy!
Good morning, friends! If you don't follow me on Instagram (which you totally should btw, at coolmomandcollected), then you may not know that we finally found out the gender of our baby...A BOY!! I must confess that my husband and I were crossing our fingers for a little boy, although like most people we would've been THRILLED either way! As parents of a three year old boy and 16 month old girl, we knew either would’ve been the perfect addition to our family!
In a previous blog post, I wrote about "Reasons Why I Love Having a Baby Girl,” and today I want to share some of the reasons that we’re thrilled to have another boy! Are you expecting? Do you know the gender? Are you trying for a baby? Let me know, and I'll pray alongside you for Yahweh's perfect timing…Have faith, and however He moves, it will be JUST that!
1. A little brother for our son
Of course, both of our children will benefit from having a younger brother, but my husband and I are especially looking forward to seeing our three year old son experience a brother to grow up with! He’s already telling us that the mailman is sending him a baby brother in the mail, and since he already has a baby girl, he needs a baby boy now! :-) We are so happy he’s thrilled!
2. Getting to revisit my older sons’ baby clothes
I don't know how some people can think that baby boy clothes aren't cute!? (I personally love finding gender neutral clothes that either my daughter, or my son can wear, but boy clothes have so many beautiful muted tones to play with!) Getting to go through my firstborn's clothes after three years was a serious blast from the past! I can't wait to see our new son wearing his older brother's clothes, and to experience old and new memories all over again!
3. Getting to witness similarities and differences between my oldest and youngest
Eventhough my first son was born three years ago, I still remember his early years as if they were yesterday! I'm looking forward to raising another little boy, and witnessing the beauty in both of their similarities and differences!
4. Following the birth pattern of my own childhood
If you know me and my family, then you're aware that I'm the youngest of four siblings in an order of: boy, girl, boy, girl! Having a boy for me means that my kids are growing up in the same family dynamic as to what I did! I almost feel like I'm getting an inside scoop of what my mother went through with this similar birth pattern as well! :-)
5. My hubby’s always wanted a brother
My hubby has an incredible sister, and they are both very close! However, he’s always wondered what having a brother would be like. For this reason, he is especially excited to watch his oldest son have a relationship with the brother that he’s always wanted!
6. Protection on either side of our baby girl
Don't get me wrong, our little girl is one-tough-cookie thanks to having an older brother, but she's still our little princess! Having a brother on both sides of her is comforting for the protection and nurturing love that she'll receive from both her Papa and them!
7. Mother-son bond
I've always looked forward to having a little girl due to the wonderful mother-daughter bond I have with my own mother, (and I'm so happy that I've secured that with my sweet baby girl!) but having a little boy really surprised me!! I've always heard that there's a special bond between a mother and son, and I can attest to that with my sweet three year old! There's something so beautiful about raising a little boy that will one day grow up to be a man and lead both others and his family! That sweet dependence a little boy has for his mother in his early years is so precious! It’s such an honor to raise little boys!
