How to Incorporate Scripture Throughout Your Day
Hello, my beautiful friends! I hope you’re all thriving today, and if not, there's still time to change your attitude despite your circumstances! In today’s blog post, I wanted to share how we can keep God’s truth and encouragement at the forefront of our minds by incorporating Scripture throughout our day! There's often so much noise and many negative distractions on a day to day basis, but filling our days with light can help us thrive in this world! I hope you enjoy!
1. Make a Scripture calendar
I recently came up with this idea for myself, and I'm looking forward to putting it into practice! I created a recurring theme for my month depending on what I was struggling, or needed to be encouraged with. I chose "Do Not Be Afraid," but you can use any theme that you want! I browsed Pinterest, my Bible index, and Google to find 30 verses that encouraged me to combat fear, and wrote one for each day of the month in my calendar. The goal is to meditate on, and memorize a different verse each day! Try it with your own theme, or the same, and tag me on Instagram @coolmomandcollected if you'd like to join along!
2. Post-it-notes for the win!
This is an extremely helpful way to strategically place Bible verses around your environment to battle and encourage certain areas of your life that need attention. All you’ll need is post-it-notes and Bible verses of your choice! For example, a woman wanting to combat the pressures society puts on outer beauty may want to place an encouraging Bible verse on her bathroom mirror. A verse about patience and loving one’s neighbor would be perfect for in the car, haha! You could also place a verse about being a Christ-like example in your children’s room, and so on. Here are just a few examples of verses I put in my own home, down below. The possibilities for spiritual growth while absorbing these verses of God’s truth are endless!!
3. Keep an open Bible
This may sound simple, and that’s because it really is! If you put your Bible away in a bookcase, it’s that much more “out of sight, out of mind," and takes that much more effort to open up and read. Leave it out in your main living space, wide open on the table in your reading place of choice, and see how much easier it is to sit down and start reading! I’ve personally tried this, and it totally works!
4. Scripture based Worship Music
I notice it more often with old school worship music, but there are many praise songs you can find that are based off Scripture, or have word-for-word lyrics taken straight from the Bible! “Sons of Korah” is one example of a band that puts the book of Psalms directly to music. By simply memorizing these "songs" you are actually memorizing Scripture! If you know any great songs that are based on verses from the Bible, please leave them in the comments down below so we can check them out!
5. Set as lock screen
I LOVE pinning Bible verses on Pinterest! It’s such an easy way to see your favorite verses come to life in beautiful calligraphy! When identifying heart issues in myself, I find a verse to combat and meditate on by making it my phone lock screen! Whatever truth I need to be reminded of becomes easily accessible for reading everytime I go to my phone. That means before reading my emails, watching Youtube, making a phone call, posting on Instagram, etc. I’m being reminded of God’s truth for me! What an easy way to daily incorporate His Word!
6. Listen to the Bible on Audio
I often forget that this is a wonderful option for taking in Scripture! Instead of watching T.V. while you’re cleaning, or listening to music while you’re driving, you can turn on an encouraging book of the Bible in audio mode! Two apps that are great for this and worth checking out are YouVersion and Bible.is
I hope you’ve enjoyed my suggestions for how we can incorporate Scripture into our daily lives! Which way of incorporation was your favorite?! I know there must be more ways out there, and I hope you'll share them in the comments below! As always, I love hearing your suggestions for future blog posts so please let me know! I wish you all a peaceful day filled with God’s truth!
Cool, Calm, and Collectedly Yours,
